Beef IV - Paul Wall and Chamillionaire snippet

Beef IV is out and it lives up to the previous three installments of the series. I respect Quincy D Jones III for successfully tapping into what has come to replace the WWF/WCW of old in terms of drama, and ridiculous grown man squabbles i.e. Male Soap Opera.

Here is a taste of what to expect from the DVD. We all now know that Paul Wall and Cham grew up together but fell apart just as success was around the corner. Now both have budding solo careers and from what I hear a reunion LP may be in the works. One request though, please keep Mike Jones (who?) well away from that project!

Throwback: Major Figgaz "Yeah That's Us!"

I'm going to start posting relevant throwback videos every now and then. And since Gillie seems to be the flavour of the month I'll start with his one and only hit from 2000 "Yeah That's Us" with Major Figgaz. Notice that he hasn't aged in 7 years and that he's still rocking the same MF medallion, but he's upgraded the chain a little. I remember hating this song when it came out right in the middle of the Bling era, but now play me anything from before 2002 and I'm loving it!

Gillie vs Wayne 3

Here's another video from last year with Gill going at Wayne. Gillie where's the album already?

Gillie tears down Rap City

Wow it's been a while since my last post, all is quiet in the land of Hip-Hop beef I suppose, or maybe not... My dude Gillie checked in with Rap City and blessed the booth with a gem, take a guess who he drops subliminals on. Better yet take a guess who he reminds you of in the booth with his word play, swagger, even mouth movements. Yep Lil' Wayne. There's no denying that Weezy F Baby and Gillie must have spent a lot of time together the question is whether or not you believe Gillie when he says he wrote most of "The Carter" album. Somehow I think it's very believable that Wayne was influenced by Gillie. At some point around 2003 to 2004 something besides late puberty changed Wayne's rap style forever. Gone were his "wobbly, wobbly, drop it like it's hot" days and in came the Mixtape King we know today. No coincidence that Gillie was working with Cash Money at that same period huh?

See for yourselves, despite the fact that this video was recorded from a TV screen it's nice!

The Transformation...

Wayne BG (Before Gillie)

Wayne AC (After Carter)

Look familiar???? Small Gillie diss thrown in there towards the end. Wonder what kind of "medicines" Wayne was on when he did that freestyle!

Jim Jones sleeping with the enemy?

GGGG G-Unit! Are we only weeks away from hearing the Dipset Capo (self- proclaimed) utter those words? 50 Cent and Cam'ron have been toying with each other since February without it really spilling into anything dramatical and right from the get Jimmy told the world that this beef had nothing to do with him and the rest of the Diplomats. Then the rumours of bad blood between Jim and Cam were confirmed when Jones threatened to "kick Cam out" of the Dips for what was bad leadership direction. No one really knows what happened but I think it could be down to a number of reasons:

1. Cam'ron mulled on the idea of re-teaming with Mase and siging him to the Diplomats at the risk of offending Jimmy who wants nothing more to do with the kid he admits taught him how to rhyme back in High School. Cam eventually killed the deal but the damage may have been done.

2. There is that now notorious footage of Cam'ron getting the f*ck outta dodge while Jimmy had his lights knocked out at a Rucker basketball game. I guess Cam realized he has way too much to live for with his 2 lambs and all.

3. Before "Ballin" Jim Jones put out a slew of sub par wannabe gangster albums that no one paid attention to and rightly so. Cam'ron got some nice publishing of all off Jim's work and I guess it only became an issue when Jones hit superstar status and wanted Cam'ron to get a smaller slice. Business is business and true to the "School of Diddy" Cam'ron told Jimmy where to go. He is the CEO after all and that comes before buddies if you want to make it to the top.

Well I think Jimmy is just trying to get Cam's attention now and he recently said that finding Cam'ron is like finding Nemo. Enter 50 Cent and his millions...

Kanye goes off on MTV (along with the lights)

A year or two after proclaiming Bush doesn't like black people, Kanye is at it again. Dude is definitely getting out of his shell lately. Going at 50, Beanie Sigel and now the machine called MTV. Rest assured he'll be back next year in his purple suits. Money talks...

Mase, Cam'ron, Noreaga vintage freestyle

This site isn't all about beef and squabbles, here's a song I found that took me way back. In fact way back to a time when Mase and Cam were like Jimmy and Cam..err well before Jimmy and Cam were like Mase and Cam after Mase and Cam became like Jimmy and Mase...get it? Now all we need is Loon in the mix and that's one serious love/hate quartet. Anyway this was a Hot 97 freestyle with DJ Clue in the background and also had fellow Harlem Worlder Cardan, Imam Thug, Tragedy Khadafi and Noreaga.

Check how Cam kills the track, makes you wonder why he's decided to go with his new "foo foo", "coo coo" "choo choo" flow. The good old days!
